Unsigned Band Competition: Win a spot on the Lindisfarne Festival mainstage

Lindisfarne Festival Written by

Calling all musicians! Fancy playing the mainstage of Lindisfarne Festival on Friday 1st September? Want former Oasis guru Alan McGee to listen to YOUR music? If you want to see your name on the lineup, alongside the likes of The Fratellis & The View, whilst helping to raise awareness and support for a fantastic cause... Read on to find out how to enter our unsigned band competition.

We are proud to announce that we have teamed up with Musicians Against Homelessness to help raise vital funds for homeless charity Crisis.

Launched in 2016 by former Oasis guru Alan McGee, the campaign was publicly supported by celebrities such as Lilly Allen, Liam Gallagher and Irvine Welsh and more than 500 bands played over one hundred MAH benefit gigs around the UK.

As the Musicians Against Homeless campaign gears up for it's second run in September, Lindisfarne Festival is continuing it's mission to give back to the community and support great causes and we could not think of a better way to do so than getting involved in #MAH2017.

The twin aims of MAH project are to raise money for charity and to provide gig opportunities for up-and-coming bands - which of course aligns perfectly with the Lindisfarne Festival ethos, as we pride ourselves on providing a great platform for emerging talent across the North East and beyond.

This year we have been overwhelmed by applications from thousands of fantastic unsigned musicians, who would love to play our festival stages. We wish we could host them all, but of course slots are limited. However, as part of our campaign help raise awareness and support for MAH, it gives us great pleasure to announce that we'll be offering a very special slot for one lucky band/artist to open up the mainstage of the festival this year.

Not only that, but the best entrants will have the opportunity to have their music heard by none other than Alan McGee himself!

Think you have what it takes to impress the man who signed and managed Oasis and the likes of The Jesus and Mary Chain, Primal Scream & My Bloody Valentine? Here's what you need to do to get your band in the running...

How to enter:

You can enter the competition or nominate a band/artist you think should win via the Musicians Against Homlessness Facebook Page.

Competition Timeline:

  • Entries/suggestions will close at 7pm Monday 31st July.
  • The 5 finalists chosen by ALAN MCGEE will be announced at 7pm Saturday 5th August and will be put to a public vote.

The Prize:

All 5 finalists chosen by Alan will receive free weekend festival tickets and the winning band (as decided by the public vote) will be playing a slot on the mainstage on the Friday 1st September.

You could be joining this incredible lineup for a weekend like no other...

And of course, not everyone covets a place in the limelight. If just want to enjoy an amazing weekend, cheering on all our brilliant acts from the audience and dropping a few quid in our donation buckets - get yourself a ticket and come along to help support an independent local festival and some brilliant emerging talent. Together we will not only have the time of our lives, we can really make a difference to some fantastic causes.
