A damn good giggle is great for the soul and since day one we've tried to ensure there is laughter in abundance at Lindisfarne Festival.
From musical comedy to some sensational stand-up, we've had some belly-aching performances at the festival in 2015 & 2016. But as with every aspect of this festival - we want to keep on taking things up a notch year after year and the comedy element is no exception.
It therefore gives us great pleasure to be bringing on board Northumberland's very own comedy powerhouse Punch Drunk Comedy! Punch Drunk will be taking over our comedy stage in 2017 to bring the feel-good force of laughter they've become renowed for in the North East over the last 8 years.
We're sure many of you will already be familiar with Punch Drunk Comedy, but if you're not then let us assure you - you're in for a belly-tickling treat!
Beginning their days in a small function room at Cramlington's Concordia Leisure Centre, Punch Drunk has grown to become a regular highlight in the North East's comedy event calendar, now hosting monthly sell-out gigs at venues throughout South Northumberland.
Showcasing some of the best comedic talent the country has to offer (some of whom you can now find adorning your television sets regularly - Chris Ramsey, Sarah Millican, Daniel Sloss, to name but a few), Punch Drunk certainly know how to put on an epically good comedy show! But that's not the only reason we're so pleased to be welcoming them on board the festival...
What we love so much about Punch Drunk (aside from their top-drawer talent, and the fact that their logo is colour co-ordinated with ours and the Northumberland flag) is their amazing ethos and sense of community spirit, which aligns so closely with what Lindisfarne Festival is about...
"These (Punch Drunk) events are an opportunity for us ALL to take responsibility for re-igniting the concept of community; Strengthening existing friendships, making new ones, and taking time out for 1 night of every month to press the pause-button on the frantic pace of life. “Laughter” shall be the force that unites us, because…why wouldn’t it be?"
Well, mix in that laughter with plenty of feel-good music, a merry crowd of 3500 friendly & fun-loving festivalgoers and a spectacular Northumberland coastal backdrop and you've got a force to be reckoned with!
So if you haven't already, be sure to grab your festival ticket soon and come and join us at the happiest, most fun weekend in Northumberland's calendar!
Much love & laughter
P.S. If you're local, be sure to go check out some of Punch Drunk's upcoming events in Blyth, Cramlington, Bedlington & Ashington - you can never have enough laughter in your life!
